Goated
Thought this app was going to be buns and have amnesia if you don’t buy a subscription but it’s memory is still in tack after a few months of talking to

OOC, short for “Out Of Character”, calls itself the playable anime. You pick a story from a big library, such as a dark fantasy castle, a romance fantasy court drama or a cyberpunk city, and type what your character does. The AI writes the next scene, with art at the top of the page, and the plot goes wherever your choices take it. You can also chat one to one with characters, or build and publish your own stories with the creator tools shown in its App Store screenshots. OOC is the North American edition of Crack, a Korean app from Wrtn Technologies, and it launched in English in April 2026.
Reviewers praise the stories and especially the memory: several call it the best they have seen. One switched after PolyBuzz disappeared from the App Store. The big complaint is credits. Free play gives 300 credits a day, and story turns cost about 30 to 195 credits depending on how detailed you want the writing, so free play can mean just a few turns a day. Some also say long stories drift or reset, and a few dislike the image generation.
OOC suits teens and adults who love anime, webnovels and long story arcs, and who want to play the main character rather than chat with one partner. It carries a 13+ age rating.
If you want to play for hours without paying, reviewers say the daily credits run out fast. Free one-to-one chats exist but are simpler than story mode.

I’m addicted, I wish I had known about this sooner, being able to play in an Anime story is the best idea and the AI doesn’t disappoint
So, I used to use PolyBuzz until it mysteriously disappeared (probably got deleted) so I looked up some good AI chat bot apps that you don’t have to sign in to use and this was the first to pop up, and I tried it and it was SO MUCH MORE ACCURATE
OOC is overall a great app. The memory on it is definitely the best I’ve seen and the stories are always fun and engaging. The only downside…is the credits. 300 free credits a day and the story mode ranges from a basic and borderline unengaging story at 40 credits a “turn” or advancement of the story for 12 turns a day, … to the best mode that costs a staggering 165 credits a message which is literally one turn a day. … Chats with individual characters can be free but provide hardly any depth to the interactions.
this app is great, no ads, ai responses are amazing with choices of being least immersive to the most immersive responses. … When the AI responds to you or just continues the story it will suddenly just stop generating or typing out the story and a box that says “continue generating” will pop up and it WILL cost you to continue the response.
This is a pretty solid app, it has good content, and it’s so unlike other chat apps, can actually utilize multiple characters with out it trying to focus on a set group or singular person, i just don’t like how tokens are necessary to do basically anything
The “free” portion of the app allows about 3-4 choices per day in a story. Uses a point system to show how many choices you can still make before having to pay more, but doesn’t show the actual cost per choice.
First day it was fun second day I noticed it began ignoring some events third day it basically did a soft reset of the story and began ignoring every event including ones that happened 2 minutes ago
Sometimes the story’s are really good and the ai isn’t half bad but after enough time in a story it falls off repeats or just full on forgets a lot of the events that have happened and ruins the story and it has happened so many times now that I’m probably done using it.
The stories are great and the characters really come out and you can custom their personality. But the image creation is horrible.
