Great app no subscription
I was kinda skeptical due to the 30 reviews all positive, but it’s a great app. There is no subscription at all and the limits are insanely reasonable…
An AI friend in your texts that checks in on your goals and gets everyday jobs done
★★★★★ 4.9 · based on 234 ratings

folk, from Nozomio, calls itself the friend in your texts. You can chat in its iPhone app or on the web, or text it on iMessage, WhatsApp or Telegram, and it can text you first: gym check-ins, streaks, study plans and a nudge when you said you would do something. It remembers what you tell it and can talk to you on a voice call. The screenshots here are from its App Store listing.
It leans further into getting things done than most companion apps. Through services you choose to connect, folk says it can research, compare prices, set reminders, read your email and chase refunds or forgotten subscriptions, and it asks you to confirm actions. You can also create an original AI character with its own personality and voice, which needs an adult age check. Early reviewers praise how much it handles and that there is no subscription; one complaint is that it can be argumentative. It is rated 17+ on the App Store.
folk suits people who want a friendly AI that keeps them accountable and handles life admin, in the texting apps they already use.
If you want a romantic companion who remembers you, Nomi, Kindroid or Replika are built for that. If you want to design companions and get selfies in a private chat on iPhone, try Duple.

it does a lot of things and I’m really surprised just how much it’s optimized my life! It updates me on upcoming bills, gives me daily affirmations based on what I told it…
It’s insightful help and has helped me get a plan together for a couple problem areas I’ve been dealing with in life
As a college student trying to get good grades, not go broke, and stay consistent in the gym, folk is a lifesaver!
i was hella shocked when folk allowed me to connect a bank, google classroom and bunch of other stuff ALL WHILE talking to tony stark or smn else
He’s really argumentative if and decides everything u say is a lie 😭
folk launched on October 7, 2026, so all 234 ratings are from its first three weeks. Apple's feed returned 11 recent written reviews; very short ones ("Nice", "Real talk") are not quoted. folk pays $15 for qualifying friend referrals, which may encourage some sign-ups and ratings. No Reddit quotes are used, so the overall rating is the store figure alone.
Each review links to its source. Quotes are word for word; anything marked Paraphrase is our summary. We skipped reviews with explicit or abusive content. Reviewers’ names are not shown.
Themes we saw in the reviews above. The numbers link to the reviews each point comes from. This is a summary of the sample we read, not a score.
