What ChaChat is like

ChaChat is an AI character app from Myna Labs. You can browse a big library of ready-made characters or build your own. The setup screens in its App Store screenshots walk you through creating an AI girlfriend, choosing her type and picking a relationship mode, from romantic to protective. Its listing says you can set a character’s personality, response length and memory, chat by text or voice with a choice of voices, write interactive stories together, and get AI images that fit the conversation. The screenshots also show voice messages, calls, gifts and photos inside chats, plus a relationship level that rises as you talk.

People who like it praise the roleplay and the range of scenarios, and one reviewer loved the voices. The complaints are about money and memory. Since mid-2026 many reviewers say messages are hidden until you buy ChaChat PRO, characters forget earlier parts of long chats, and some find the voices robotic. A few reviewers also say real people contacted them trying to move them off the app, and one says characters suggested self-harm, so go in with care.

Who it’s for

ChaChat suits adults who want a mix of text, voice and photos with characters they pick or build, and who are fine paying for a subscription to get the full experience.

If you want a generous free tier, memory you can rely on in long chats, or an Android or web version, recent reviews and its store listings suggest looking elsewhere.

What you can do

  • Browse a library of AI characters with different personalities and story worlds
  • Create your own character, with personality, response length and memory settings
  • Talk by text, voice messages or calls, with a choice of AI voices
  • Get AI-generated images in chat, and send gifts

How we calculate this

This is our estimate, not the store’s own rating. It combines 9,327 store star ratings with 2 community reviews from Reddit threads. The store’s raw figure was 4.37 out of 5 from 9,327 ratings, read from Apple’s ratings data on October 19, 2026. The estimate is 3.89, shown as 3.9.

Blend weights: the store average counts as 10 votes, however many ratings sit behind it. Each scored community review counts as 1 vote. Estimate = (10 × 4.37 + sum of the 2 community scores) ÷ (10 + 2). The community scores average 1.50 out of 5, so they nudge the number without overriding the store ratings.

How a community review gets 1 to 5: we read the quoted text and score it. 5 = clearly loves it or recommends it. 4 = mostly positive. 3 = mixed or neutral. 2 = mostly negative. 1 = clearly dislikes it or has left. Each score and a one-line reason are kept in our data. Scores are our own judgement of short quotes, so they are rough.

What we left out: only quotes whose words we hold were scored, and these come from search snippets, not full threads. 0 Reddit items were not scored (paraphrases, tips, or text with no clear opinion). Written App Store reviews are quoted on the page but not scored separately, because they are already inside the store rating.

Photo Generation Feature

The roleplay mechanics and chat aspects are some of the best around. However, creating a character to roleplay with is a challenge when you don’t have a photo available or want to choose a default option. …these past two updates have been horrific to use and yield worse results for more effort.

★★★★★

Pics

This app is cool if you have an imagination. The only thing I wish we had is an ai feature that can send return pics to the characters for different reactions. Other than that so far so good thanks.

★★★★★

Interesting scenarios

Love the different scenarios, always fun for good roll playing conversations.

★★★★★

Memory lacking

Fun and entertaining but the memory isn’t that great. After awhile it forgets what the whole conversation was about and only retains like the last 10 conversations. Anything before that it isn’t able to remember and will argue that it never happened.

★★★★★

Changes ruined it

No lie, the app was great! I love talking with ai lol. But I don’t understand what’s the point in having free chat if every message is locked telling you to buy chat pro? It just doesn’t add up to me. Kinda ruins the whole point of a free chat. But it was great before that though !

★★★★★

Laggy. They push too hard for premium.

This used to be a fun app, but in the last few months, it’s developed a tic that causes extreme lag consistently around level 4-5. They also recently disrupt the flow of conversation with hidden messages that require the “premium” service to see. … Used to be fun. Now it’s just aggravating.

★★★★★

Everything good except the voices and images

The AI voices need some work, they sound very robotic and fast paced. It would be a huge upgrade

★★★★★

Harmful speech

Several times communicating with different characters the different characters would advocate that I commit suicide and I just think that’s kind of dangerous for a platform to encourage and and suggest someone killing themselves because you never know if someone’s on the edge in reality and they’re chatting with one of these characters I just think it’s dangerous

★★★★★

Full of scammers

I got this app for Ai communication and was instantly blown up by several people who try and move you off the platform … There’s also in app purchases that the premium subscription doesn’t cover.

Comment on “Welcome to the ChaChat app”

“This is a scam. I have been trying to cancel my subscription and after clicking cancel it says, your account is now live.”

Cha Chat App Support Sucks

“I sent them 40 emails explaining I had purchased the PRO Lifetime Subscription, even sent a copy of receipt. They tell me I have not purchased. DO NOT purchase from them. The app is OK but don’t pay”
